On Continental Shores produces and circulates projects with a European and international impact.
An initial European gambit takes the form of projects developed by La Criée in cities along the Atlantic Rim. Between 2008 and 2014 the art centre will be organising cooperation cycles with European curators, with a view to establishing a panorama of contemporary creativity.
The 2009–2010 cycle involves Rennes and Glasgow, with curator Patricia Fleming and her Social Landscape project. The 2010–2011 cycle will concern Rennes and Lisbon, together with the "Senegal connection", based on a project designed by curator Jürgen Bock and artist Allan Sekula.
A second international cooperation gambit extends the Atlantic space to include Latin American countries and Africa.
For the 2009–2010 season La Criée will be working with the community association Travesias and its partners (Rennes School of Art, Rennes Dance Museum) on residencies, exhibitions and talks to be organised in conjunction with Argentina.
A third gambit revolves around artist Philippe Mouillon’s Atelier-Monde (World Studio) project: intellectuals from the international scene will be called on to examine our potential for creation in the light of today’s aesthetic, social and political issues
